Why Tint Your Car? The Top 4 Reasons

1. Keeping Cool
With the right window tint, you can reduce the heat inside your car in the scorching summer months by up to 60%. Keep the heat out and never worry about showing up at work drenched in sweat ever again.
The darkness that window tint provides also help protect you from the sun's harsh UV rays. Window tint lets less light into the vehicle, therefore it is helping prevent and protect your skin from cancer as well as protecting the material inside of your vehicle from the light as well.

2. Upholstery Protection
The heat and UV rays from direct sunlight can turn your upholstery into a mess in a few short years, but did you know this is highly preventable? Car tint keeps your car interior from getting hot enough to warp, fade, or crack, and blocks up to 90% of harmful UV rays from entering.

3. Privacy

One of the most popular benefits is that it adds a level of privacy to the vehicle. Tinted windows cause it to be really hard, nearly impossible, for anybody to see inside the car.  The layer of film is dark, which provides the people inside to see out but people outside are unable to see in. This means it will be harder for people to see in your windows. With tinted windows it will be harder for people to see the valuables you have in your car, and it will also give a sense of privacy.

4. Security

Window tint also gives you an added level of security as well. Since it is hard for someone to see inside the vehicle, that means they are unable to see if there are valuables or anything nice inside the car, lowering the desire to break in and steal those valuables. This protects you and everything inside because of the window tint.

Automotive window tinting is very beneficial for every vehicle owner.

Window tint helps to keep you safe, provide privacy, protect you from shattered glass in an accident, as well as provide the vehicle's interior to have a longer life span because of the lack of harmful sun rays entering the car. By having window tint professionally installed, you will notice the benefits of the window tint from the day it is installed in your vehicle.

Installation
Window tinting starts with a clear layer of polyester film that has been either dyed or embedded with metals. An installer cleans the inside of the windows with a solution, scrapes off any dirt, places the film to the window and smooths the bubbles out of the film. You may choose from film with different levels of darkness. The quality of the tint you select determines how much light it absorbs and how much of the sun's harmful rays it blocks.

Legality
Check your state laws to find out how they regulate window tint. Most laws stipulate the amount of visible light that must pass through the windows. The amount may vary depending on your vehicle and its use. Some state laws mandate that the front two windows of a vehicle have a lighter tint than the back windows. Your installer may have to place a sticker on your car indicating the tint is legal. In some states, you can present medical documentation that allows you to have darker than legal tint for certain medical conditions. Lack of compliance with these laws can result in fines.

Cost
As of 2015, the average cost of window tint can range from $175 to $399 for passenger cars, $150 to $195 for trucks and $250 to $500 for SUVs and minivans. The range depends of the type and quality of tint selected. Upgrades can include non-reflective tint, hybrid film, full metal film, titanium film and stainless or colored film. If the installer has to remove the old tint, expect to pay about $100-$150.
